Rikyu Watanabe, considered by many to be the foremost aircraft
illustrator in the world, provides the specially-commissioned art
for the AGGRESSORS series.
Born in Osaka, Japan, in 1927, he volunteered for the Japanese
Army Flight School for Youth Soldiers in 1943.
After the war's end, he studied painting at Bunka Gakuin
College, and since 1966 he has specialized in aircraft
illustrations.
Over the years he has created art for 12 aircraft books,
including P-38 LIGHTNING, P-51 MUSTANG, F4U CORSAIR,
B-17 FLYING FORTRESS, and ZERO FIGHTER, and his
drawings appear regularly in major Japanese aviation magazines.
